Absolutely elated to finally share this manuscript 🐸🧬

We designed the first custom SNP array for an #amphibian and used it to uncover the genetic diversity in this threatened species which is maintained in a closed captive population.

And not only did we find a range of phenotypic variation across the species, from susceptible
➡️ tolerant ➡️ resistant.

But we also found significant differences in outcomes and influences between repeated experimental exposures in this Critically Endangered #frog 🐸

It’s the first #frogfriday for 2025, so what better way then to share our new preprint 🐸🍄

We exposed corroboree frogs to a low dose of #chytrid to detect variation in individual responses using a genetic representation of almost the entire species… ⬇️

But also I just think it’s super freakin adorable, especially the way the wiggle gets faster after he gets the cricket like his so proud of himself 🥹

This ‘toe wiggling’ behaviour is called pedal luring and has been observed in several amphibians using vibrations and movement to attract small insects to come closer to them be gobbled up!
