So the problem isn’t just the rotten, misogynist production system in today’s Hollywood; it is the way film and media “history” are taught to students.

Women were an important part of the Hollywood workforce 80-90yrs ago. They were screenwriters and labour leaders like McCall. Not just actresses.

A few years after I wrote “Nobody’s Girl Friday,” my history of the women who worked for the Hollywood studios, I overheard the guy who teaches Hollywood cinema at my university say to another guy that they didn’t need to “decolonize” the curriculum in his department “because only men made films.” 🤮

Times obituary of theatre entrepreneur Robert Fox: he died..."at home looking out to his flower-filled garden on a glorious spring afternoon".

You can't ask for better than that when it's time to go.

Peers vote to back clause pardoning women convicted over illegal abortions House of Lords decision welcomed as ‘landmark moment’ after attempt to strike out amendment is defeated

In the UK, the House of Lords (also called Peers 🤔) voted to pardon women who had already been convicted of illegal abortion and to expunge police records of those arrested. This comes after the gov't decriminalized women in June. The anti-choice movement is furious women can't be jailed anymore.

You could say that Rock n Roll was born 111 years ago today in Arkansas, but probably not where you'd think. Before there was a Chuck Berry or Little Richard, there was those who wanted to be like her.

Rosetta Nubin better known as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of Rock was born on this day

Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899), French painter, obtained a police permit to wear "men's clothes' as expected female fashions were so restrictive. She was so popular that girls were given dolls dressed in trousers to mimic Rosa’s unconventional style #WomensArt #WomensHistoryMonth

‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ Joining Criterion Collection (EXCLUSIVE) 'KPop Demon Hunters' and Guillermo del Toro’s 'Frankenstein' are two of Netflix's award season films that are joining the Criterion Collection.

Used to be irritated the Criterion Collection snubbed Fred Zinnemann’s films (the only one of his they’ve reproed is REDES and he’s only got a codirector cred for that). But this 👇 makes me think he’d be fine with not being part of the ‘brand’…
