Does anyone know how the water veneer moth's lifecycle works? Wikipedia says only some of the females can fly. So do only some of the females mate or do some of the females mate in the water even though they are wingless?

Monopis moth with grey background (speckled dust of grey and white mist), it's long thin body with golden abdomen and defined black wings neatly folded. It has beautiful yellow marigold scales that glistened when lights hit on its body and its legs.

Im still confused by this part:
Females come in two forms, one fully winged, the other with rudimentary wings and flightless. Wingless females swin below the water surface. Mating takes place on the water surface. Winged adults swarm at night, in June in our area.

The Water Veneer moth is an aquatic insect. Apparently the caterpillars live underwater and make an underwater cocoon filled with air. Males and only some females apparently fly out of water briefly to mate!

It’s inaccurate to say Mario is brave and Luigi is cowardly

Luigi is afraid of death, so he runs away from danger. Mario is afraid of living, so he runs towards death. Both brothers are cowards in their own way

In the future cyberwar, we will have that tense scene from Inglourious Basterds, but instead of the shiboleth being numbers represented on a finger, the spy will be found to be a robot by responding with an emoji.

Book highlight that says: "A not-wholly-unfair analysis of academic publishing would be that it is an industry in which academics compete against one another for the privilege of providing free labour for a profit-making company, which then sells the results back to them at monopoly prices."

Enjoyed reading "The Unaccountability Machine" by Dan Davies: at turns thoughtful and hilarious. Goes deep into cybernetics, history, neoliberalism, and accounting (!).

A friend sent me this quote which is pretty funny and on target unless you're an academic; then the joke is on you (and me).

The U.S. takeaway from Hungary is that Democrats need to run a guy named John American.

Screen cap of reddit comment from a human-verified account, Franky-47, reading

"I cannot express enough how bad this guy was here and how unprepared he was (I work for the government (Foreign Ministry) here in Pakistan).

Basically the Iranians had a team of 71 people with experts (from banking sector, to health, infrastructure, agriculture, trade/commerce, as well as nuclear scientist and many others) yet Mista JD there did not even know what he was being offered to him, instead would avoid giving any final or interim answers and kept opening new chapters as in new agenda items (topics/subjects) within an expanding list of demands for the agreement for Iran to comply on.

On top of that, at each agenda item (topic/subject) this guy would call Trump, Marco, and Pete for guidance and keep asking them what they thought and needed to be done?!?

It was as if JD was insincere or passively trying to sabotage the deal. At the end without summarizing his final or interim answer on each old and new demand, he just got up and told them you know what we want and what we do not, then went back home in a hurry, just like that,...

I say the enemies of the USA are from within not outside."

Reddit has an apparent inside account of Vance's failed negotiations and the sheer puerile idiocy of the American regime.
