Visited the spot again today.
I wanted to get a better look at the assumed mate. Now I can confirm: It is a male of the species (Agalenatea redii).
He sits in the same spot, while she has moved to a different branch on the same plant.

A medium sized grey and dark brown butterfly with light and dark markings; dorsal forewing mostly grey with dark rimmed hyaline spots forming the transverse lines; those in the postmedial line are triangular; spots are larger on females; dorsal hindwing dark brown with darker smudges; males have a slight costal bulge holding pheromone producing scales.
Something new I learned hiking this week. The Propertius Duskywing (Erynnis propertius) butterfly is reliant on the native oak trees for its larva's host plant. They were flying among the Oregon White Oak (Quercus garryana) on the Lyle Cherry Orchard hike.

A newly laid egg on the underside of an Alder Buckthorn leaf. It is a very pale green and about 1.3mm high with longitudinal ridges
On the left is the egg after a few day, it's turned dark yellow. On the right the caterpillar is almost ready to emerge. It looks pale brown and the top of the egg is empty
Newly emerged, I missed the actual "birth" - of course. The first instar caterpillar is yellow, facing head down and at the tail there is a white substance. I don't know what that is
The empty egg shell, clear and still beautiful, the ridges are very obvious

Female Brimstone is a delicate pale green. Here she's at an oblique angle wings folded together and abdomen raised towards the Alder Buckthorn twig.
A very poor shot, tomorrow I will look for the eggs, she laid about 20 during several visits. 2 are visible one on each leaf bud

A tiny black spider which legs have a soft orange hue. Its whole body shimmers as it reflects the sunlight.

But, to my delight, I managed to encounter someone new the other day!
Excuse the low quality, the spider was very tiny and wouldn't hold still. The pictures are zoomed in too.
It appeared to be an ant mimicking spider (but unsure).
