“I used AI to combine the data from two excel lists and then send emails to people who were on one list but not another. Saved me so much time.”
My brother in academia, you just fucking discovered mail merge. Welcome to early nineties computing.

Is this the game she's whining about?
A man has to play at grocery shopping, oh noes, the whole structure of the universe will collapse.

Best wishes for your recovery (and your research).
OMG this is brilliant. 🤣
Don't neglect the "Not Pictured" list at the very bottom.
we all know I have no life, so:
Many of the indie Romance authors have learned to post a far-off publication date because Amazon is forgiving if you push the pub date earlier than the one you originally set. (My husband wondered if they might be required by law to cancel the pre-orders that don't arrive at a particular time.)
Amazon US paperback detail page says:
This title will be released on October 27, 2026. (Kindle edition has vanished.)

Yes, Amazon is agressive about cancelling delayed pre-orders.
Kobo Australia is still showing a pub date of March 19, 2026, the same as Kobo's US store.
Screenshots from my order from the US store.

#AncestryHour See you all next week, or on Thursday for #GenHour. I hope.
#AncestryHour Fistbump of solidarity re: common surnames.
#AncestryHour It's so frustrating when you can't find enough to get started. There are professional genealogists advertising, but who wants to hire a pro when you're at the "is there anything?" stage?

#AncestryHour Murphy's Law of #genealogy, right? Like the line in my husband's family that left Sheffield for either Canada or the US in 1841. I have some 'maybe' records from the USA, but there's not enough information to tell if it's his people or not.
#AncestryHour and a quick site search of JewishGen shows there is some information for Jamaica there.

"Almost every nonconformist faith has had a presence in Jamaica as have Roman Catholics, Jews and Quakers. The best online source for these records is Patricia Jackson’s site Jamaican Family Search."

#AncestryHour I just did a quick Google search and found an interesting very old-school website. Their transcriptions of Jewish records are here.

#AncestryHour The hashtag search on the web interface is wonky and slow today.
#AncestryHour The Analysis Pivot Grid and the Export to Excel feature in Clooz 5 may be of interest, especially to users doing community studies.

#AncestryHour Alas, I pre-ordered a epub of this new book which has still not arrived. No word on a publication date. AmazonUS shows sometime in the fall for the paperback. 🤷
Greetings #AncestryHour! More BlueSky outages today, it seems.
This week I installed Clooz 5, which has a new Analysis tab. It also includes a template for the new #1926Census of Ireland. #OneNameStudies #OnePlaceStudies #LocalHistory #genealogy

I just saw an online review for the book A Wrinkle in Time (from someone who had likely seen the movie first and read the book after, not that there's anything wrong with that).
Title of review: A great book!
Review: (enjoyed book, it differs from the movie)
Star rating: three stars

Fencing gets cool technology.
All #FigureSkating gets is a lousy 'jump map' that looks like a sperm in a box.
Now that the Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to refund companies what they paid in tariffs, yet there are still tariffs in place, what's the plan? Consumers continue to fork money over to corporations who will later get another refund?
Zine cover reading: MAY DAY STRONG Friday, May 1, 2026 HERE'S WHAT YOU DO No school, no work, no shopping
Made a #MayDayStrong zine! Here's what we're all doing on Friday, May 1, 2026, friends -- and why! Check out the zine in this thread and check out maydaystrong.org for events near you!
I've been asking this question since trickle-down economics started, but no one has an answer.
If businesses fire all their workers, and we are all broke, where will businesses find customers?
All genealogists with any Catholic heritage will want to swallow this book as soon as possible. In "Searching for Sisters," Sunny McClellan Morton unlocks the key to the long-neglected treasure trove of records pertaining to sisters and nuns.
As a former StoryCorps facilitator, this is fucking disgusting.
End the project already, Dave.
You created a good model: you encouraged people to sit and do oral history for 20 yrs.
Turning StoryCorps into a surveillance capitalism nightmare is not worth the money to keep the project going.
We’re defending Western Civilization by kicking Plato and Shakespeare out of university classes.
I've done another video to explain how to use the #1926census map search as well. Please share. #Speirgorm #IrishGenealogy #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
