Be kind. 💛

Be especially kind to the vulnerable.

This includes kids.

Thanks for reading this.

Have a good day. ☀️

I don't buy a lot of books because I've got an awesome library system, but this bundle is tempting. There's so much good stuff, as well as new to me stuff in here

Oh, I was incorrect. There’s an app for both Android and iOS

Downside may be the lack of an app, last I checked, LibraryThing was web only.

I’ve used Librarything for many years now.

I’ve joined Storygraph for the social aspects, but I don’t think I’ll recatalog there.

I’ve not done it in a while, but Librarything supports CSV export of your data.

Wow! Me too. Just reached the end yesterday! I had a blast reading that one!

Hehe, that’d be awesome for a reread!

That’s great to know. The right reader can have an amazing impact on the experience of book. :)

Whoa! There’s going to be another Other? Is it coming soon? I’m excited to read it!

I only dislike one small part of the book, to avoid spoilers, I'll say that one of the plot twists felt unnecessary, but I suspect some readers would disagree with me.

Overall, it was lots o f fun, a great adventure with a ton of humor, and never once took itself seriously. :)

I loved the interplay between characters the most. The main characters' rejoinders to each other and their antagonists really made the book for me.

That said, the humor in this book may be a turn off for some readers. It is often biting, often dark, and consistently irreverent.

I finished reading "The Devils" today. A very fun way to start the year. Last night I was laughing so hard that I couldn't keep my eyes on the page. I'd get it under control and then the next line had me laughing again.

I can relate. It hasn't happened yet, but I tend to have a "main fiction read", "short fiction read", and "this month's non-fiction interest read". :)

The main fiction tends to move along fast, while the short fiction goes slower (I like to contemplate each story) & the non-fiction the slowest.

First book I've started this year is "The Devils" by Joe Abercrombie. I'm having a lot of fun with it! :)

🪐📚💙

Started my 2026 (on the 1st!) reading with "The Devils" by Joe Abercrombie. I'm only halfway through the book but I'm having a blast. My favorite parts of the book so far is the character dialogue -- I've genuinely been laughing out loud at the interplay between the characters. :)

Today's affirmation:

You’re allowed to outgrow old versions of yourself. That’s literally the point.

Remember to relax the space between your ears. And as always, drink your fucking water.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel. #moviesky #filmsky

Oh wow. Been a long while since I've seen this movie. I don't think I quite made it to six watches of it, but definitely more than a couple!

Hmm. That strikes a chord with me. I really don't like my "first layer" to be long sleeved unless they can be pushed up. Usually the long sleeved is on top of a short-sleeved shirt, so it can be removed if I start getting uncomfortable.

Seems impossible to me. :)

I’ve on occasion, gotten to that moment of “Oh that’s why” and in that moment I remember to remind myself “Trust the author, they’ll take you to amazing places!”

I've not used one -- is there a way to specify up front topics you'd be interested in chatting about? Seems like that'd be a way to narrow the the selection process.

That's definitely the case with the Dingilliad. I think I'll need to add some of his other works to my to-be-read list, this run through has reminded me how much I like the combination of elements he's chosen.

Helping me get my book name out there would be amazing <3

I have to say, though...when a story holds both plot and deep characters in balance together, it's amazing to see. I'm trying to think of examples but drawing a blank...perhaps later. :)

But, characters matter to me more. Their depth and their verisimilitude is very important to me. I'll lose interest in a story if I don't feel invested in at least one character; and character behavior that breaks plausibility will pull me out of a story...

That's an intriguing question.

I appreciate a great plot, where you reach a moment of revelation where the plot ties together is an amazing moment.
