Torontonians are so used to things not going well, it's a bit surreal when things are better today than they were yesterday... And surreal it is to ride the Eglinton LRT after 15 years!

GO train disabled near Union Station causes delays and chaos for Toronto-area commuters Crews are working on the issue, but trains will not move through the area until the issue is fixed, according to a service update on the GO website.

Another example of how shoulder stations that serve all GO lines, say at Spadina & at Sherbourne, would make the entire GO network more resilient to issues at Union. This is crippling our entire region.

I'm sorry to pile onto Finch West LRT further, but 350 delays in December is wild, considering it was only scheduled for 392 operating hours in December; that's nearly 1 delay per hour - and that ignores the hours it was supposed to be running but wasn't!

Back to Seattle & Finch. My clips were from Othello station, at a comparable intersection to many along Finch. The built forms aren't identical, but they're not that far off.

Imagine if Lines 1, 2, or 4 (RIP Line 3 Scarborough RT) operated at 11.2 km/h:
- 26 min, Kennedy to Victoria Park
- 1 hour, Bloor to North York Centre
- 30 min, High Park to St George
- 2 hours (!) Union to Vaughan

Transit wouldn't be as useful nor as well-used.

Increasing the average speed of this at-grade LRT from 11.2 km/h is so vital, both for Finch LRT riders (or would-be riders) and to maximize the billions of dollars invested into other at-grade LRTs in the pipeline (Eglinton Crosstown, Hurontario, Hamilton, Eglinton East).

I wanted to compare what I saw on Seattle's Line 1 LRT with Toronto's Finch LRT.
