Scarlet elf cups are popping up in the woods. They grow on dead wood & love to hide in the damp.
In European folklore, it was said that wood elves drank morning dew from the cups. Also known as Fairy baths!

The bright yellow plasmodium I visited has turned into this gorgeous display. This= the end of the plasmodium but its spores will travel in the wind, settle & possibly become a free swimming haploid amoeba.

Veins of yellow slime on the end of a cut log
Like bunches of grapes, these are the tiny hanging sporangia of the slime mould Badhamia utricularis. Such an exciting find & worth going out in the rain for!
They grow on dead wood & develop from a stunning yellow plasmodium, shown on the right
