By building dams and transforming streams into wetlands, these industrious animals dramatically reshape how carbon moves and is stored in landscapes. Over just 13 years, a beaver-engineered wetland in Switzerland stored over a thousand tonnes of carbon—up to ten times more than similar areas without beavers.

Went out today looking for birds and saw 10000 turtles instead #marinelife🦑

An American Woodcock standing on a pebbled concrete ledge, with some green ivy leaves along the left of frame. This bird is varying shades of buff and brown with a very long light-pink beak, large dark eyes, and a body shaped like a potato. They are turned a little more than 3/4 toward the camera.

Usually I only see turtles sunning in the pond but we found this guy just off the trail digging in the sand! (He had plenty of space I just zoomed in with the camera)
