Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.

Of course, the creeps don’t want anybody else’s babies to be smart, just their own…
Somehow we have to convince people that *other* people’s kids growing and being healthy and learning and succeeding is good for everyone, actually
Only a few hours to go before I give my third public performance with my fellow djembe* band members. Band name is "Gantigan!", after a vocalisation of a common 6/8 rhythm accompaniment.
*djembe, pronounced "jem-beh", is a West African drum.
What .. because he dealt with fractional dimensions?🤔
Or maybe because he was used to dealing with complex numbers that politicians just don't understand?
True story: I was fact-checking myself and typed "Mandel" into Google and it auto-completed to Mandelson. I had to type the full name to make sure. LOL
You're welcome!😊
Wow!
Yeah .. I've no idea. Are they perennial? I put in loads of bulbs a couple of years ago, but have put on a really poor show this year.
I also wonder if the bulbs might have been eaten by something. 🤷♂️
Ahhh .... you make me chuckle 😊
Thanks!
Your tulips are doing much better than mine.
I have precisely ... two. And one of those is on it's side. 😞
A plot of the top half of the Mandelbrot set on the complex plane. The plot is made up of Julia sets computed for every location on the complex plane. The shape of the Mandelbrot set has not been computed directly, but has emerged from the thousands of Julia sets that have been computed. The red box indicates the expanded region in the next image accompanying this one.
An expanded image of the region marked by the red box in the other accompanying image. This image shows individual Julia set plots. Each plot has a different value of C, where the value of C is determined by the location of the Julia set on the complex plane. If a comparison is made between the visual "character" of each Julia set, it will be observed that it shares a lot of the visual features of the same section of the Mandelbrot set at that location in the complex plane.
A section of the Mandelbrot set in the region of the red rectangles in the other two images accompanying this one. Three different spot values on the complex plane have been indicated. One (-0.8, 0.15) is the value of C for the Julia set computed in the highlighted image.
Think of a Julia set as a kind of elaborate sample of the Mandelbrot set with the unique characteristics of that region of the M. set. The shape mirrors the local region of the M. set. For example, C for this image was -0.8 , 0.15i. See ALT TEXT in the images for more explanation.
THIS!!!
1000x this.
Close - Julia.
Mandelbrot : Z(n+1) = (Zn)^2 + Cxy
Julia : Z(n+1) = (Zn)^2 + C
For Mandelbrot, Cxy varies according to location in the image and Z0 = 0.
For Julia, C is constant and the starting value of Z0 varies across the image.
Nice. I recently purchased a 5V 5A SM PSU for one of the exhibits I'm bringing to the show next month. It's so tiny! Fits in the palm of my hand, passively cooled but runs barely warm to the touch. What a time to be alive.
Thanks 😊
Oh dear ... 🤭😇
A mathematical Julia set rendered in green, pink and yellow hues.
This used to be my lock screen. Rendered by my own software😊
Sounds like you had fun 🙂👍
With your FINGER?!?! 😮
That's amazing.
Hope you have a great time 🙂
Is "back burning" the practice of burning the stubble left over in fields after crops are harvested?
That practice was banned in the UK decades ago. 😞
@chrislintott.bsky.social Hi Chris. Do you have any influence at the BBC? I was horrified when a presenter used "manned" talking about Artemis II with Maggie on Newsnight. Have complained, but the response just quoted the OED definition of manned. Very sad the BBC can't see the gender bias here.
ohhhh, this is good!
Using the 3.9m AAT, Sarah Caddy and Lee Spitler (from our school!) were able to track Orion on its return trajectory ...
... when the astronauts were still 200,000 km away from Earth! 🤯

Precisely.
Why didn't the journalists challenge him on that?
I've never seen a doctor heal someone with a laying on of hands with aura emanating from their hand.
That's appalling. I hope you are able to resolve the issue or find another host that is less.. unreasonable
I no longer buy from Amazon. Because I can't.
I bought so few items from them, they suspended my account. Reinstating it requires I use a different email address. I like my current one, so..🖕
“How many months of problem free sales will it take?” “Let me double check this for you.”
“You need to do 201 without any further defects.” “Sorry, I need to do two hundred and 1 sales.”
“How long will that take please?” “That depends on you when you are able to complete these.”
“201 months is 17 years.” “I trust I have provided you with the necessary information…”
I’ve been a quiet eBay seller since 2001. I’ve had no -ve ratings.
Last Nov I cancelled 3 auctions (no bids) because I changed my mind 🤷🏼♀️.
Suddenly, 5 months later, I’m limited to *1 sale per month*.
I need problem-free sales to lose the restriction.
How many?
201 🤣
201 months is 16.75 years.
Fun thread about human-human separation:
Three artworks painted on a #Quantel DPB-7001 Digital Paint Box by Martin Holbrook. These were made during the early period of the DPB Paintbox in the 1980s.
There are only TWO working DPB Paintboxes worldwide, one will be at #Retrofest in Swindon, UK on May 30th and 31st.

By the way @bhaalspawn.bsky.social is an amazing artist and her prints are worth checking out!
