Got a bit carried away at #Retrofest but when I saw all these TLBT VHS tapes I couldn’t resist lol and I also got one the movie posters but I’m waiting to get a frame. Also saw some of my favorite Pokemon tapes and got an autograph from my favorite Mario Character! Really like what he wrote too.
A teletype printed Mandlebrot image along with BASIC program used to generate it on an Altair 8800
Write once, run anywhere! (1/2)
At #retrofest a few weeks ago I really enjoyed the setup @devilishdesign.bsky.social had with an Altair 8800 using a teletype as the user interface. He very kindly printed me off a listing of his BASIC Mandlebrot generator.
Me in my RetroFest 2025 t-shirt in front of a machine used to research North Sea weather, which is controlled by a Commodore PET
Rocking my #retrofest t-shirt at the @sciencemuseum.org.uk today! @shortcircuit.org.uk
Well this is a belated #retrofest video of sorts! Built My Own Arcade Controller on A BUDGET

Here’s my (later than sort of planned) video on the Retrofest event held in Swindon/organised by @shortcircuit.org.uk
Follow me as I take some janky video footage of old tech 😅 and marvel at this great event and exhibitors.

Lee of @morefunmakingit.bsky.social has put together this great video of #RetroFest (with a couple of hotel room reviews thrown in too!) It gives a good sense of what it was like, and I even made the photo section at the end of it (at 1:05:47) 🙂
Loved seeing this at #Retrofest - perfect retro tech for the location too. The Hornby brochure from 1979 was scarily nostalgic too!
Amazing day yesterday at #Retrofest meeting lots of lovely people from here. 2 highlights for me were the P500 from @binarydinosaurs.co.uk and the Max from @asobitech.com . 2 rare Commodore machines that were great to see working!
One thing I took away from #Retrofest this weekend is that many of the retro YouTubers are taller in real life! @shortcircuit.org.uk
Had a great time at #Retrofest show today, lots of great people and interesting projects. Plenty of things to inspire and learn about and a lot of unique retro stuff never seen before.
Awesome day at @shortcircuit.org.uk #RetroFest. Plenty of interesting and rare machines on display. Had a great chat with this chap, Dean @breakintoprogram.co.uk. And I was impressed the folks at @museumofcomputing.bsky.social had heard of nakedretrogamers.com! ...
Yawning Angel and the wonderful Mr Mark Fixes Stuff.
The people you bump into at events… 😅
(It’s always lovely seeing @markfixesstuff.com 😉.)
#retrofest
Had a brilliant time at #RetroFest today.
Didn't spent too much thankfully, but have added a few things to my wish list...
But did spend a lot of time finding out about some really, really obscure, and fascinating, technology!
Great day at #RetroFest yesterday. Even found a copy of an RM Nimbus educational software that I developed with NCEC back in the 80s 😊
I'm not at #Retrofest, but it looks like a blast! Not just about nostalgia - it's important for understanding how humans interact with tech, and seeing where past design & marketing *choices* shaped current offerings. Sometimes a step back opens the door to real *innovation*. [That's the TED talk]
Had loads of fun at #RetroFest running at the STEAM Museum in Swindon with Swindon Museum if Computing. Was wowing people with a Chinese Famicom Clone & a BBC Micro and there was some great stuff such as running Ceefax, console mods, a dial up internet system, and more. Will be back for more Sunday.
want to see some more #retrofest stuff? I got more #retrofest stuff for ya right here imnotdoctorwho.moegamer.net/2025/05/31/o...
A Mattel Aquarius II home computer from 1983, one of only a few in the world and possibly the only working model in 2025.
A Bandai RX-78 "Gundam" home computer from 1983, a colossal commercial failure for the company but an exceedingly interesting piece of computing history nonetheless.
Good time at #retrofest today, lots of interesting things to see. Highlights from a rarity perspective were probably the only Mattel Aquarius II that works in the world, and the Gundam-branded home computer Bandai would probably prefer that everyone forgot about.
Just the one piece of loot from #Retrofest but who can turn down an actual SMS game from noted lovely man @onlyretrofans.com . If you own a gaming device, Jurl probably runs on it. tonsomo.itch.io

Yawning Angel’s Amiga A1200 at Retrofest.
Yawning Angel and Andi HBR.
Timberwolf, Dudley Yesterzine, Yawning Angel, More Fun Making It Lee, and Seb from Seb’s Place.
Absolutely the best day at day 1 of Retrofest.
So many retro systems and so many YouTubers (a few shown below)! 😱

Back from #RetroFest a fantastic event, well done to all involved.
Back from #RetroFest, and what an interesting day. Hello to @breakintoprogram.co.uk, @dexterstechlab.bsky.social and everyone else I chatted to who I don't yet have on BSky
It was lovely to chat with @morefunmakingit.bsky.social @leesmithsworkshop.bsky.social and @breakintoprogram.co.uk today at #retrofest.
Dean showed some wonderful code on the Einstein that was compiled and shipped by cable to a Spectrum - and it then played music a-la Tracker. Very cool stuff.
