Sometimes I don’t think think I know what I’m doing and then I pour an absolutely beautiful pint that I made myself and remember why I love my hobby.

It's 10 years since a group of people with learning disabilities saw their vision of a cultural space for everyone become reality as we took on Gosforth Civic Hall and got to work creating a place we can all enjoy.

We can’t wait to celebrate 10 years with you, and to shape the next 10 together 💛🧡❤️💙

News, nuggets and longreads 18 April 2026: Tremor of Intent Every Saturday we round up the best writing about beer from the past week. This time, we’ve got beauty spots and liminal spaces.

GOOD MORNING! Here's our latest round up of news, nuggets and longreads, with notes on the Cumbrian beer scene, on a pub in a shopping centre beneath a flyover, and on how licensing laws were historically exploited to exclude women from brewing and pubs. 🍻🍺

We have re-brewed our Koji rice lager. "Donmai" collaboration with Minoh beer in Osaka, with some tweaks to the koji process below. It is rice, malt and noble hops, but tastes like tinned peaches and cream. I don't think ive ever been so excited for one of our beers. More as it develops x

Lunch! Absolutely wonderful take on Surf n Turf at Smoke and Sear, just up the road from me. Flame cooked steak and panko coated king prawns, delicious apple slaw - and a raspingly bitter West Coast Pale from local being superstars Donzoko. That's blown away the cobwebs 😋

I write a lot about pubs and speak to tons of publicans, many of whom are critical of MPs but I don't know any who would behave like this.

Boasting about spying on his phone is really something.

I’m not usually a great fan of tap rooms. Fortunately, I’m only 5 mins from the Donzoko one. The giant red curtain does a good job of deadening the sound. Horrible sound is what puts me off most taprooms.

“Pubs and beer will never receive the coverage they deserve in the national press because they are seen as lesser, until they elevate themselves to the point of being better than a mere public house.”

Good morning. Next week is our first guided walk of the year, covering a loop of the Quayside and its underbelly of industry, death and spirituality.

There’s one ticket left, but you’re welcome to drop me a message if you wanna come as a twosome!

We’ve just received some cans of Full Circle's Brigid’s Cauldron, the beer our Managing Director, Alison, helped brew alongside many other women in the brewing/beverage industry.

A percentage of this beer’s profits will be donated to Newcastle Women’s Aid.

The Tiny Toad/Heaton Tap is reopening as a cafe bar - called The Red Step.

I heard that it was going to be a cafe in January , it will be interesting to see how viable it is because the rent on the very small unit has gone up by 30%
