The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is considering rescinding the EEO-1 data collection that helps enforce gender and racial nondiscrimination in employment. Read more on ending workplace discrimination: www.americanprogress.org/article/play...

#AANHPIEqualPay is about more than just fair wages. It also includes having workplaces free from discrimination and harassment, but we can't identify problems we don't measure.
Single mothers, many of whom are commuting to work and shuttling their kids around, are among the hardest hit by rising gas prices due to the Iran war.
As a single mom, “you’re already underwater, and it’s almost like the gas puts weights on your feet.”

Happening soon, and what better day to talk about raising the minimum wage than #equalpayday.
Infographic asks "How old will Zendaya be when we close the gender wage gap?" A timeline shows her at 29 in 2026 and 74 in the projected gap-closing year of 2071. It notes women earn 81 cents for every dollar men make. A caption reads: "Zendaya never ages, but how old will you be in 2071?"
CAP finds that it would take 45 years to close the gender wage gap between men and women. That means some of your favorite celebrities, like Zendaya, would be in their 70s by the time U.S. women are paid the same as men.
How old will you be in 2071? #EqualPayDay
We can’t afford to wait this long for equal pay! We must ensure our government continues to collect the data we need to identify demographic gaps in employment. The EEOC must continue to collect EEO-1 and other related data.
Trump's tariffs are a hefty tax on small businesses, with the average small-business importer paying $306k in additional tariffs since March 2025. And in 15 states, that average is even higher.

BIG NEWS: Virginia is one signature away from becoming the 14th state (plus D.C.) to guarantee the right to paid family and medical leave. CAP senior fellow @mollyww.bsky.social explains:
New jobs day analysis from @saraestep.bsky.social and me on the latest labor market data and how Trump's immigration policies are not delivering for native-born workers and hurting the overall health of the labor market #numbersday #econsky ⇣ www.americanprogress.org/article/immi...
We may not have a #JobsReport, but we do have a new @hamiltonproject.org labor market data interactive! Plot series on labor force participation, employment, unemployment, and other key indicators. I use this more than FRED.

The EEOC is SUPPOSED to serve the American public and enforce our civil rights. As @aapd.com shared, in 2024, more than 33,000 disability-related charges were filed with the EEOC, representing about 38% of all EEOC charges.
An EEOC vote yesterday will dramatically undermine anti-harassment guidance that helped protect millions of American workers @hvnorrisphd.bsky.social and I break it down for @salon.com : t.co/s6hjlr09xl
This is the dude who called DHS on our peaceful press conference this am. MPD came to protect our 1A rights from these folks. Never experienced anything like it
The 2026 financial outlook for American families is not looking good—despite what Trump claims.
Are you better off than you were a year ago?
Transphobia harms everyone. The EEOC's actions are just another example of this fact. When you start policing some people's bodies and prevent their right to safe workplaces, you put everyone at risk of that same surveillance, harassment, and discrimination.
Commissioner Kotagal is sharing a heartbreaking story of a transgender employee who experienced brutal workplace harassment, whose case was dropped by the Trump appointed EEOC chair.
I'm listening to today's EEOC vote on rescinding the enforcement guidance. Commissioner Kotagal put it best, "The commission is throwing out the baby with the bathwater".
This is insane not just the explicit "go break the 4A" substance but how they knew how bad it was, acting in guilty paranoia to cover it up and suppress the written evidence.
This isn't how running a government agency works. This is what a criminal conspiracy looks like, because that's what it is.
Are you better off than you were a year ago? After a year of Trump's economy, Americans' attitudes and latest economic data answer that question with a resounding "NO." Check out how Trump's first year made life less affordable ⇣

We are bleeding manufacturing and goods producing jobs, not *despite* the tariffs, but probably *because* of them given the ham-fisted approach to tariffs.
An infographic featuring a line chart titled "BREAKING: The manufacturing sector lost 67,000 jobs in the wake of Trump’s tariffs." The chart tracks the "Cumulative Change in Manufacturing Employment, 2025." The line begins at 0 in April 2025, marked with a label "Trump's Tariffs Announced," and declines steadily each month, ending at -67,000 in November 2025. A cutout photo of Donald Trump in a suit and red tie is positioned in the lower left corner. Source text at the bottom cites CAP.
This is Trump's "golden age" in action...
A bar chart infographic titled "Breaking: Despite claiming an 'A+++++' economy, Trump’s reckless tariffs have stalled the country’s job growth." The chart displays "U.S. Jobs Added Per Month, 6-Month Average." The left bar, colored teal and labeled "Dec 2024 – May 2025," indicates 139,000 jobs added. The right bar, colored red and labeled "Past 6 months," is significantly shorter and indicates 17,000 jobs added. A cutout photo of Donald Trump stands on top of the short red bar. Source text at the bottom cites the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and The New York Times.
This is the highest unemployment rate since the pandemic. Trump's tariffs have created an economic disaster for Americans.
November's jobs report was concerning, even with wonky data making it more difficult to parse. The warning signs from Black workers are very much there, spelling out more weakness ahead. www.americanprogress.org/article/nove...
Thank you to the caucus for inviting me to discuss rising prices for families this season. I was moved by the storytelling from Chloe and Luna. Listen below:
What does a country without affordable healthcare look like?
@nzmurphy.bsky.social paints a clear—and alarming—picture. Watch her full interview: contrarian.substack.com/p/healthcare-isnt-a-luxu...
The Affordability Serenity Prayer (idea stolen from @jaredb-econ.bsky.social)
God, grant policymakers the serenity to accept the aspects of the affordability crisis they cannot change (e.g. most prices), the courage to address the aspects they can (e.g. pay), and the wisdom to know the difference.
The only value in the database for JOLTS that won’t be present will be the unemployed persons per job opening (JTS000000000000000UOR). It will be represented by the presence of a record but a missing value in the variable (noted with a hyphen). In our revision tables, the missing second closing August data and missing first closing September data will be noted with a #N/A in the appropriate cell.
Advance insight to help you code around a new, stupid issue.
How will BLS represent missing data values resulting from the govt shutdown in the #JOLTS data release tomorrow?
