I managed to miss #Day12 of #12DaysWild, so I'll count this as my #FinalPost of the challenge.
A group of #WhooperSwans, not too far from home. They come every winter, and generally return (to Iceland, I think) sometime in March.
Huge thanks to our friends @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social for making #NewYearPlantHunt one of their #12DaysWild activities this year!
Loving this wallchart from @lizm.bsky.social showing the birds, plants & other wildlife she enjoyed in midwinter.
All wildlife, all nature, all connected.
Wallchart for 25 Dec - 5 Jan, with nature-based activities filled in for each day. The Wildlife Trusts logo appears top right.

#12DaysWild may be over, but there are still so many ways to stay connected to nature and make a difference. 🌿🌳🍃
Whether it’s planting for pollinators, reducing waste or joining local events, every action counts.

Group of seven people walking along a grassy trail surrounded by tall green trees and bushes on a sunny day.
#12DaysWild may be over, but Shropshire’s wild places need you all year long 🌿
Plant for pollinators, cut waste, join a volunteer day, visit one of our reserves or become a member (check out our January offer 😉) .

Minus 11 overnight - but the dawn light is lovely - Sussex #12DaysWild
Two bare trees against a winter dusk sky, snow on the ground
Chilly day 12 & #12dayswild gently ends. "In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there's something stronger – something better, pushing right back." Albert Camus

Day 12, and lovely to end #12DaysWild with a snow day. 📷 #photography @wildlifebcn.org
Day 12 Mammals -I had high hopes for mammals day. I went on 3 walks, did 17K steps the only mammal I saw was a squirrel that tried to raid my birdfeeder, lost interest & then nonchalantly dug up a stashed acorn 😆

Day 12. The final day of #12DaysWild
Sorting seeds! I save/dry/collect seeds from things I’ve grown. Now they’re going into envelopes ready for Spring sowing. I grow many things for wildlife and love wildflowers in particular.

Stop and listen! Nature’s got the best playlist this winter. 🎶
This #12DaysWild, take a moment to listen to nature’s soundtrack. From the cheerful robin’s winter song to the blackbird’s flute-like melody, every bird has its own tune

Stop and listen — Shropshire’s got its own winter playlist 🎶
From robins singing at dawn across our towns and villages to blackbirds fluting through woodland edges, every song is a clue to who’s nearby.

Day 11 #12dayswild back out in the beautiful northeast winter wonderland. Completely still compared with yesterday's biting breeze which made bird call ID much easier as we looked up at the trees/listened. A decent conversation going on between a couple of wrens, and of course a robin chuntering on!

With all the snow recently, I've been keeping the bird feeders (sunflower hearts and peanuts) well-stocked.
I also scatter suet pellets for those that prefer feeding from the ground. There's always one, though, that comes asking for a feed...

Who’s been walking in a Shropshire winter wonderland? 👣❄️
Look for footprints along river edges, muddy paths and frost-kissed footpaths. Deer, badgers, otters — you never know who explored a reserve before you!

Day 11 of #12DaysWild
Last night I put the wreath I made over Christmas into a plant saucer, filled it with water and left it outside overnight.
This morning I have a lovely garden ice decoration ♥️
Do something incredible for wildlife this #12DaysWild and register to become a volunteer. 💚

A fox feeding after dark.
#12DaysWild #Day10 #Nature
One of my regular visitors. I started putting out food for #hedgehogs during lockdown - they were regular visitors back then, but only occasionally now.
I got a trail camera to see what was going on after dark. On the second or third night, a #fox turned up.
