Its wild how this #1kaday exercise in putting words beside each other has morphed into my researching and planning two different novels.
Working out characters, tone, atmosphere, locations...not new in entirety but the direct application and angles will be unique to the stories.

It is also weird how freeing doing an outline is.
You would think that an outline would be restrictive, but it really opens you up to the possibilities of your story.

So, I have both stopped to do some reading AND decided to make the writing process harder but also...more fluid? Typing on a keyboard feels so detached from the way my brain works, scratching on paper works better.

They posted that they finally gave in to outlining by hand and by god, I have been fighting this for two decades and I think it is time I gave up.
My writing is so much more visceral when I do it by hand but it takes longer and my handwriting sucks and oh god no.

Two things happened.
This draft that I was brute forcing suddenly turned into a Very Real Thing, and I decided to stop and do some Actual Research so that I could better inform the story that I see forming.
Then, a bluesky mutual made a post that kicked over my writing table.
Fuck all is happening. Music and a few thousand words it is.
I see people on base gearing up for the fourth (fuck that, by the way) and I wonder if they know what's in the bill, or that it passed, or that it exists.
Then I wonder if they're for it.

...2K today, tomorrow and Thursday night and back to 1K on Friday.

So now I've set myself 2K words for today and tomorrow then back to the #1kaday I've set for myself for 100 days to get the fucking novel draft done.
For the first time... ever, I'm enjoying drafting an outline.
