Quetzalcoatlus - the largest flying creature of all time. Which was exactly how I felt when I was on an airplane while 8 months pregnant.

I've dreamed of seeing this reconstruction of Quetzalcoatlus in person, and I finally had the chance at #2024SVP at the Science Museum of Minnesota.

The very next week, it was off to #2024svp in Minneapolis. One of the best SVPs I've been to yet with lots of great discussions and collaborations and a solid showing from the #ISUPaleo crew ( @gondwannabe.bsky.social , @zhejiang0pterus.bsky.social , @garyonyx-mcgoy.bsky.social etc al.)

Hello to the huge influx of followers! I'm Tristan, a MSc student researching fossil #Archelosauria (turtles, crocs, birds, and all their extinct relatives) at #CSUF. I'm currently in my last year of my master's studying a strange fossil #seaturtle discovered in Orange County. Picture from #2024SVP.

With everything going on in the world and in my life right now, I really appreciate that I was able to spend a week surrounded by friends at #2024SVP. Y’all are the best and I’m so happy to have you in my life! I just wish I took more pictures.

Presented our latest work on Dinosaur Mummies last week at the #2024SVP meeting. Seemed well received, now we just need to get our findings written up. No problem, right @uglyfossils.bsky.social ?

Happy #FossilFriday everyone!

Just sharing some cool mounts from the Science Museum of Minnesota at #2024SVP.

In the foreground is an as of now unnamed toothed whale from Miocene Peru. In the background, the far too large and toothy Pelagornis.

That’s a wrap on #2024SVP!

Realizing now that I met a ton of absolutely amazing people but didn’t take any photos with them… if that was you, thank you!!! See everyone soon! (Just probably not next year… sorry Birmingham)

The actual content of talks and slideshows is embargoed, but someone just put a stratigraphic column on the screen which has the colors of the lesbian pride flag and it reminded me of this. #2024SVP

Saturday #2024SVP talks. As always, talks are preliminary and not peer reviewed, and I am summarizing them as presented by the authors. My summaries are not endorsements. Expect Theropods (birdy ones) and a smattering of lepidosaurs and sauropods.

Been having a blast at #2024SVP! Hearing about lots of exciting things and meeting awesome people. I’ve made connections that I think will lead to some really cool projects for me.

Also, here are the only sketches I’ve done that aren’t based on embargoed work – my first love, early whales #paleoart

Happy Halloween from Lokiceratops and Anomalocaris! They couldn’t make it to #2024SVP, but at least they up with me dressing them up as old dead things before I left.

Hope you all are having fun regardless!

Texas plesiosaur skull measuring in at nearly 3 feet long

Say hello to the newest plesiosaur reconstruction that I've made!

It's at our #2024SVP booth, a new polycotylid from near Dallas, TX.

Once the digital work was done it took me a week to assemble and detail all the parts for the full sized skull

Highlights for me this morning at #2024SVP: Sharpe shows evidence of a check muscle with homologues across Dinosauria. Boyd et al show differing taphonomic pathways to dinosaur "mummies": one type referred to as "iron mummies" with iron rich minerals replacing skin.
