Araştırma, Madrid Complutense Üniversitesi’nden Carlos ve Raul de la Fuente Marcos tarafından yapıldı. 1991 yılında keşfedilen ‘1991 VG’ ile tanımlanan bu özel sınıf, ‘Arjuna asteroitleri’ olarak biliniyor. Dünya’ya çok benzeyen yörüngelere sahip bu gök cisimleri, zaman zaman gezegenin etrafında kısa süreli ‘mini Ay’ olarak da yakalanabiliyor. Fakat, bunlar kalıcı uydular değil; Dünya’ya kütleçekimsel olarak bağlı olmadan senkronize biçimde hareket ediyorlar. 128 YIL DÜNYA'YI TAKİP EDECEK ‘2025 PN7’, şu anda Dünya ile rezonans halinde bir yörüngede bulunuyor. Hesaplamalara göre ‘2025 PN7’, yaklaşık 128 yıl boyunca Dünya’nın yarı uydusu konumunda kalacak. Daha sonra yörüngesindeki küçük değişimlerle bu rezonansı kaybederek Truva (Trojan) ya da at nalı (horseshoe) yörüngesine geçmesi öngörülüyor. Araştırmacılar, ‘yarı uydular’ ile ‘mini Ayları’ birbirinden ayırıyor. ‘Yarı uydular’, Dünya’ya yakın ama kütleçekimsel olarak bağlı değil. ‘Mini Aylar’ ise geçici bir süreliğine Dünya tarafından yakalanıyor. Astronomlar ise Dünya’nın etrafında birkaç yarı uydu bulunduğunu belirtiyor. Bu uydular; '164207 Cardea' (2004 GU9), '469219 Kamo’oalewa' (2016 HO3), '277810' (2006 FV35), '2013 LX28', '2014 OL339' ve '2023 FW13'. ‘2025 PN7’ ise bu listeye katılan en yeni gök cismi oldu. Bilim insanları, ‘2025 PN7’nin kısa ömürlü de olsa Dünya’nın dinamik kozmik çevresini anlamak için önemli bir gözlem fırsatı sunduğunu söylüyor. 50 yıl sonra ilk kez gerçekleşecek!
