Hey everyone, just a heads-up that tomorrow is an economic blackout in protest of the GOP’s vote to gut the federal government—firing thousands of federal workers, slashing Medicaid for 70 million people (including friends, family, and my own children) etc, and giving massive tax breaks to the rich. More economic strike days are coming up. If you can, avoid spending any money tomorrow to send a message. If you must make an emergency purchase, try to use cash and support locally owned businesses, especially those owned by minorities. Why does this matter? Corporations and the wealthy elite thrive on our daily spending, and by collectively withholding our dollars, we disrupt the economy and show our power. The goal is to hit them where it hurts—their profits—forcing them to take a stand or risk financial losses. These strikes send a clear message that we won’t sit back while they destroy our rights and livelihoods. It’s only one day, but it’s an important first step in building our momentum.
