‘Belvedere’ was clearly a popular subject, as also #OTD 18th July 1944, Sgt Christie took this dynamic shot.

In this image, the contrast is a little clearer and we can make out the lightly marked name. #BritishTankMarkings

Back with 27th Armd Bde today, this is ‘Belvedere’ a Sherman Vc from B Sqn Staffordshire Yeomanry, taken by Sgt Laing #OTD 18th July 44.

The name is barely visible in this image, but it’s lightly marked on the hull side in 12inch high letters!

Had to be this #OTD 3rd July 1944.

Lots to love in this photo, firstly it’s by Sgt James Mapham, probably my favourite AFPU photographer, secondly, it features 27th Armoured Brigade, and thirdly, it’s an excellent study of a Panzer IV, that can be read like a book…

Having survived the landing, here’s ‘Balaclava’ again, an RHQ Sherman III from 13th/18th Hussars, 27th Armoured Brigade, ‘shooting up German troops’ by the crashed Horsa gliders, near Ranville.

Love the stowage on this one, particularly the spare drive sprockets, one of which is ringing the MG… fantastic. #Stowage

More Jimmy Mapham, and this is another favourite!

Obviously I’m drawn here for the Sherman IIIs, but I love the details, the chaps in the foreground, absolute perfection!

Continuing with Jimmy Mapham’s iconic work, #OTD 3 June 1944, with the 13/18 Hussars of 27th Armoured Brigade, at Gosport.

Main subject is 71, ‘Carole’, a Sherman Vc from C Sqn with her crew, listed in the alt. The details on this are fantastic!
