My poor friend, in the middle of dealing with chemo from cancer, was frantic, calling the school, and I helped as best I could with contacting the school from my phone, hoping someone would be in the school, answer a phone, and know where the child was, or could go find the child. I couldn't believe it! The child didn't leave the school and missed the bus. No one was aware at the school! Now I don't drive, because of anxieties. However, I kept my calm, and helped my friend the best I could, by calling the school myself, going through all the numbers I could find on my phone, for the school. After calling around the school, they found the child, and they got the next available bus driver to bring the child home. I asked and was allowed to contact the school on Facebook, and I said to them, that I knew that they were still dealing with the aftermath of Covid since the year before, that by now, I thought that they'd have a system in place for such things that just occurred, as to help and not upset the student and parents / caregivers. I told them that I gave them some leeway all things considered, but I made myself clear that I was disappointed. I know that there are many school districts with teachers who have bus duty. I was shocked that we had to go through different people at school to find the child. We still don't know if the school has a teacher bus duty "roster", or not, though. So, this got me thinking - I need to create a contact "system", where the school, the teachers, the bus drivers, and the pick up people / guardian / parent(s) know where the kids are supposed to be! _____________ Soon, I will be creating more school contact lists: School bus passes, where the student's bus pass matches the pick up person's pass, with contact info for the bus number, bus driver name and contact, the child's parent(s) / guardian and/or pick up person, and teacher, with all of their contact info, email addresses, phone numbers, bus stop with cross street intersections, and the school's contact Teacher school bus duty sheet with the names and contact info for each student and their parent(s) / guardian and/or pick up person, whether they walk, get picked up by car, or take the bus, with the bus driver's name, contact, and bus number Bus driver student list, with contact info for the bus number, bus driver name and contact, the child's parent(s) / guardian / pick up person, and teacher, with all of their contact info, email addresses, phone numbers, bus stop with cross street intersections, and the school's contact _____________ These passes can be put inside clear postcard size pouch holders, sold on Amazon, Walmart, and elsewhere online, for the child and adult pickup person to have on them, keeping them clean. They can also be coated with a self laminating sheet on both sides, or cut up a clear, acid free sheet protector - do you know that you can sew acetate, what the sheet protector is made of? You can also cut the sheet into quarters, turn the inner edges in and glue shut. Hole punch a corner, and use hole reinforcement tabs. On a side note, I was trying to create a fill in forms, where educators and parents could type in all the info. When using Photopea.com, a Photoshop like site that allows you to save your created files, for FREE, I used a size 20 font, or smaller, to fit all the info in.
