Who asked me at #4C26 if I wanted to start a writing group? Who was that? Because yes. But I forgot who this was.

I think there are vigorous conversations in writing studies about AI Use, particularly how faculty can take critical and ethical stances that include options for students not to use AI. I wish that Kathryn Palmer's IHE article had reflected the wider conversation at the #4C26

I really like the nuance that @annamillsoer.bsky.social 's post brings to the conversations around Refuse AI and #4C26. The IHE article www.insidehighered.com/news/tech-in... made it feel like AI Refusal was the only position faculty were taking.

When writing teachers present about AI, how often do they talk about using it vs. refusing it?

So far in the #4C26 program, I count

75 sessions that explore uses of AI
7 sessions that advocate refusing AI
68 sessions that do not advocate use or refusal

Yes, that was great! I really enjoyed #4C26 this year!

AHOY! 2025 - Aendra Rininsland on Queer Resilience on the Social Web - ATProto Community AHOY! European Social Web Day in Hamburg in 2025

I stumbled across this talk/blog by @aendra.com on @leaflet.pub this morning, and this is exactly the kind of work I was trying to get at in my #4C26 talk--how do we build better, more resilient social media that can support us (esp. trans/queer people)?

I very much enjoyed attending #4C26 in Cleveland and presenting data from my recent course on Women's Rhetorical Education. Learning about and contributing to women's education never gets old! I feel lucky that this is my job.

The best part about conferences… catching up with colleagues 👏🏼 #4C26

College writing teachers have spoken, y'all.

The CCCC resolution affirming students' and teachers' right to refuse generative AI in the writing classroom passed by an overwhelming majority at the #4C26 Annual Business Meeting this past Friday, March 6.

A new experience this year at #4C26 - on multiple occasions, people walked up and asked if I was Charles Grimm (and I was - and I am!). It makes the conference feel different when you're becoming a person who is known, even though I'm not a scholar. I'm a volunteer, and that is being noticed.

I've already got a great group of colleagues who are considering putting something together for #4C27, and it is indeed exciting. I'm also hoping to continue working with my panel from #4C26, though, so it may get tricky!
#TYCA26 and Cs gave me tons to think about, most of it practical right now!

This year's #TYCA26 was everything it always is: engaging, welcoming, and fulfilling.
This year's #4C26 was better than some I've attended, but that's partially from building my network. Were teaching awards given this year? I didn't hear them mentioned, which made me feel less welcome as a teacher.

I have SO MUCH ENERGY from hitting up #4C26 last week. I feel revived.

Just arrived at Seatac, one of the wheels on my suitcase was lost in transit, and when I get back to my apartment I have to prep for today's (?!!) classes because my laptop did not function appropriately this past week but I REGRET NOTHING, #4C26.

Had a great time in Cleveland at TYCA and #4C26! It’s always wonderful to reconnect with amazing colleagues and share what we’re working on. Grateful to those who attended my session on the impacts of higher ed policy reform on FYC courses. 🙏

Next up: TESOL in Salt Lake City!

One last thing #4C26 gave me this year and then I promise I'll shut up:

For the first time since before pandemic, it feels like my profession isn't slowly dying, wasting away inch by inch.

We felt energetic. Angry. Scrappy. Looking for a fight.

It felt like we're gonna win.

God, I needed that.

Pro Tip: sit down and brainstorm in the week after you attend a conference—without researching or using AI. Those talks and ideas are floating around in your head—what are they telling you? #4C26

As I go home from #4C26, I think I can finally put words to why this conference means so so so much to me.

I work on trans comics rhetorics specifically, and trans rhetorics generally. There are other trans folks in my department, but they do other stuff (good for them!).

Nerd musing inc!

Was mostly off BSKY during #4C26. As I skim today, I'm feeling my angst returning. Some of it is just what happens when I pay attention to McFascist, some the feeling that I must have missed important news (but I don't think I did). Giving myself a news break for a few days was probably smart.

#4C26 is in the books! I had such a great time catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and seeing everyone's amazing work.

Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday afternoon to attend my session!

This was one of the most fun nights out I’ve had in a while! Fabulous conversation, food, laughter, and profound insight into being women in academia. Thank you, Bahareh Alaei, Dawn Formo, Kimberly Robinson Neary, Lauren Springer, and Shannon Baker, for such a delightful evening! #4C26 #CCCC

Why should you come to #CCCC? Because you can run into fabulous old friends whose work you admire to boot! Wonderful to get to spend a few happy minutes together, Jennifer Sano-Franchini, Donnie Johnson Sackey, and Ada Hubrig! We’ll make it longer next year! #4C26 #TeamRhetoric @ncte.org
