Finished my reread of the Harry Potter series this morning. The story and the books remain great reads some 20-30 years later. A shame we'll never know who wrote them.

One cool thing about writing, or being a creative of any medium, is that you control your world regardless of what's happening in The Real. Could be something small, like having your characters walk in the warm sun when it's dark and 15F outside your window.

Having a harder time than usual this morning since waking up to that awful news (happens a lot in 2025) about Rob and Michele Reiner. My WIP is heavily inspired by The Princess Bride and it's hard not to have the wind taken out of my sails a bit.

I believe every serious writer has a project or two they think is beyond their current skill set. For me, I've got "Crock: An American Fairytale" and "The Mountain." Nowhere near ready to tackle either.

Really sinking into my WIP now.
Thinking about my fictional world more than the real one, processing things the way my rotating cast of characters would, talking a bit like they might.

Totally normal stuff, especially since all my characters are fairy folk.

Struggling with the current work and wondering why I can knock out cynical, murdery, gruesome, dark stories no problem but have a real tough time with light, optimistic, fun, wholesome fantasy tales. I always drift back into the void.

My #5amWriting was more of a #6amWritersClub today BUT I knocked out 2 micro fic stories that had been hounding me and submitted them for a quarterly. Fingers crossed!
