So, 10Km radius is the new ‘Greater patch’ it’s only 1.2 miles more than a #5MR but somehow increases the area by 50% to just over 300 sq km.
I get some more Wildfowl and Wader habitat, and, looks like I get another 15 bird ✅ too.
I have toyed with doing a five mile radius list #5MR (which, from what I can see appears to be an American 🇺🇸 invention) intuitively a 10 kilometre radius is more appealing to me. What is more popular in the U.K? 🇬🇧
Sticking in my #5MR this afternoon. A pair of Peregrine at East Fen, Isleham, Corn Bunting heard. Only my second visit this year to Isleham Washes; 39 Avocet, 7 Snipe, Redshank and 5 Shelduck. @CambsBirdClub

Red-Crested Pochard, Gadwall & m Marsh Harrier new in at Worlington Fishing Pit 🎣 The former #162 for my #5MR list and #137 for #lockdownlisting 1+ Goosander still present. Elsewhere, earlier, Goshawk and Woodlark. A decent afternoon.
Last week’s Cattle Egret had the good grace to fly into my #5MR area and stay around longer than a minute. #161 and the second ✅ in 2 days. Still at west end of the flash at Cavenham Heath 13:30 @RareBirdAlertUK
As you might have guessed I have stats. 😗 This morning’s White-tailed Eagle was only my 12th and first for 11 years. Also #160 for my #5MR
I wonder if it’s one of @SeaEagleEngland or a genuine migrant, my hunch is it’s the Kettering wild bird from earlier this week. 🤷🏻♂️
Put it off for years but, thanks to @WansteadBirder 🙄 I’ve just spent all day working out my #5MR list.
159 spp.
(c.f. 230 in 33 years from my last House, though I had a lot of waterbodies in that 78 sq. miles)
Now I’ve got to make that an even number. 😬 See what you’ve done!
