6 June 1958: death of the Rt Revd Arnold Lomas Wylde CBE, aged 78. He had served as 5th Bishop of Bathurst for 21 years, and for 10 years before that, as bishop-coadjutor. Originally migrated to Australia in 1921 to serve at Gilgandra, and as a Bush Brother. #anglican #67years

4 May 1958: the Very Rev. Denis Erskine Taylor (1907-1983) resigns after just over 5 years of service at St John's Cathedral as fourth Dean of Brisbane. #anglican #67years. Of a Scottish background, Taylor went to England to be a Vicar in Devon for four years, but then returned to Australia.
