OK, the music finally got a bit better, but much of the soundtrack has been unexpectedly boring and banal, given the really rich material they could have been borrowing from. #hatm #6888th
Appreciated the chance to review Netflix's The Six Triple Eight for this month's (Feb) issue of Britain at War magazine. It's not perfect, but it tells an important story. #history #WWII #6888th

6888th despicts the true power of us black women. Shame on any human that condemns us for our flaws, especially our skin. #BlackLivesMatter #6888th
Here is a blog post about the #6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion that I prepared a few years ago:

It’s a goddamn shame that we are learning more history from Tyler Perry than the textbooks in our schools.

Watching The #6888th and damn if I ain’t got something in my eye 👏🏽🖤✊🏽
A reminder as the #sixtripleeight #6888th movie on @netflix.com comes out today, they don’t care so much about our families’ stories as they do about enriching themselves, Tyler Perry, Kerry Washington, et al. Do you wanna know their stories? Ask their families, like me.
American Women's Army Corps (WAC) Captain Mary Kearney and American WAC Commanding Officer Major Charity Adams (1918-2002) inspect the first arrivals to the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion at a temporary post in Birmingham, West Midlands, England, 15th February 1945.

At a time when the Army wanted to prove that Black people were mentally unfit for duty, our impact in Europe disproved it. The #6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion was the first and only African American women's unit to serve overseas during the war.
The 6888th Central Postal Battalion aka the "Six Triple Eight" is finally on movie screens & Netflix. The #6888th was the only predominantly black US Women's Army Corps unit sent overseas during World War II. #TheSixTripleEight

The #6888th were the only #blackwac to serve overseas during WWII, in the UK and France sorting backlogs of mail. Shop some of the pieces they sourced in our latest '40s collection: www.whatkatiedid.com/collections...
Listened to WW2: Forgotten Mission of the 6888th Battalion by Warfare on Spotify. Commander Carlton Philpot shared a lot of good information.

You are going to hear a lot about the #6888th Central Postal Battalion, often said to be the first African American service women in the ETO in February 1945, when the Netflix film drops this year. The 63 nurses of the 168th Station Hospital near Warrington beat them to it in August 1944.
