Drama over E China Sea for 2 @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwits. Seems due to strong headwinds, the 1st stopped short of Dongsha nr Wenzhou & the 2nd, who was heading to Yingkou, turned S then W, also ending up nr Wenzhou, 30Km S of the 1st. And a 3rd bird just left Oz #80MileBeach

A 2nd @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwit has left for the Yellow Sea & is over the Celebes Sea. This one from #RoebuckBay is probably going back to Yingkou. The 1st was from #80MileBeach & expect will return to Jiangsu Dongsha where it will be probably be joined by the last 2.

ANY MINUTE NOW! A year ago today, 2 @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwits were on their way N from Australia, already over Indonesia, but none of the 4 who still have transmitting satellite tags now (2 Roebuck Bay, 2 #80MileBeach). By 9 April 2018, 3 of those were well on their way...

She made it! The last @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwit is safely back in Oz. However, she's the only 1 of the 8 birds who has returned to a different site than that from which she departed ie #Broome rather than #80MileBeach. Will she continue to #80MileBeach later? #Ornithology

AT LAST! The @GlobalFlyway Bar-tailed Godwit who's been on Mindoro since Sept., has managed to drag herself away from the lovely Philippines to join the other 7 birds with transmitting satellite tags who've already been at #Broome & #80MileBeach Australia for weeks. #ornithology

Of the 8 @GlobalFlyway barwits, 6 are back in Oz @ their Broome/#80MileBeach catching sites. The Dongying/Sibutu bird is S of Sumbawa. DPRK bird still at Mindoro (in 2017 it was already in Thamarrurr NT Australia). It must like Philippines cos used Manila Bay on the way N in 2017

6 @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwits are safely back home at their catching sites in Kimberley, Australia, 2 at #Broome & 4 at #80MileBeach. Of the 2 Philippines birds, the Sibutu one is now E of Kalimantan but the SW Mindoro one actually remains settled near Poblacion #ornithology

While lucky waderologists flock to #IWSGconf, a 4th @GlobalFlyway barwit returns home to Broome/#80MileBeach (from Yawajaba Is further N in Kimberley); the Vansittart Bay bird still staying put. The Sulawesi & Mindoro birds just set off S but the Sibutu bird is still settled.

All 8 @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwits have now left the Yellow Sea, with 5 in Australia (2 on #80MileBeach), 1 still in Sulawesi (as in 2017) & 2 in Philippines - Sibutu (as in 2017) & Mindoro (but in 2017 this DPRK bird was already in Australia, near Wadeye) #ornithology #wader

The DPRK @GlobalFlyway bar-tailed godwit is the 5th to head south, leaving just 3 Shandong birds in the Yellow Sea. Only the Qingdao bird was still there in 2017, one being already at #80MileBeach, Oz and the other still at Sibutu Island Philippines #Ornithology #Wader #Shorebird

A 2nd @GlobalFlyway Bar-tailed Godwit, the Wuleidao Wan, Shandong bird, has set off south! It is currently over Rudong; in 2017 it made a direct flight to #80MileBeach arriving already by the 30th. More are expected to leave as soon as the N wind stops blowing over the Yellow Sea

The Jinjiang @GlobalFlyway great knot is moving up the Fujian coast. 8 bar-tailed godwits are heading north (3 from #Broome, 5 from #80milebeach) with 2 now at Jiangsu (Tiaozini & Dongsha) and 1 stopped INLAND (!) near Po Yang Hu, Jiangxi!

The @GlobalFlyway Great Knot that flew to Sulawesi a week ago is now back at Broome! The other is already at Dalupiri Island, NPhilippines! (A few unmarked great knots are now at Yalujiang). The 13 bar-tailed godwits all still in Oz at #RoebuckBay #Broome (5) & #80MileBeach (8)
