On 5 Feb Maarten Hotting identified a godwit metal-ringed as chick on 18 June 2001 in Friesland. At 24yr it is now an experienced elder!

Stuff is moving! Today the first Black-tailed #Godwits of the year showed up at Snitser Mar. Five birds among Wigeon, Teal and Shoveler at Griene Dyk. Further down the path I noted a flock of six Oystercatcher. Another local birder logged a flock of 22 Curlew in the same area yday. #ornithology

Make it 15.000 #Godwits at Lucio Del Cuquero, Veta la Palma, Doñana! The rain from last night meant the birds were now belly-deep in water, making it impossible to read any of the 200+ ringed birds that are likely here. Bit frustrating. But Doñana is thirsty, and rain is a blessing. #ornithology
