Both the Bike Bus and the #80sWalkRollClub in Hood River were inspired by that longing for independence, adventure and community through biking.

1st walk and roll club of the Fall and we had the most beautiful afternoon weather for it.
For this season's club, we have 4 schools and 4 grades represented. This is such a great group of kids!

How many steps are in the Hood River Stairs?
419, the second longest public staircase in America. The club was tasked with counting the steps but no one got the right number.
But we have 3 more months of walking to get it right.

Nacho Wednesday hill climb challenge.
1 of the bike club members climbed all 4 segments of the hill without putting a foot down. That success was a year in the making.

I challenged the bike club to ride the Old Columbia Hwy switchbacks and (optional) race me up a steep grade Highline Road. 1 of them beat me 😀
WHEE-ing down the switchbacks and🍦 waffle cones paid off.
Their stamina grows and they become tighter every week.

Take me to the river.
It was an off-the-beaten path Friday. The club went through the Frisbee Park, under I-84, along the tracks and Columbia, snacks at Stoked and a quick playground stop before speed walking up the hill and barely making it back on time.

Another lucky blue sky Friday for our walk around town.
