Opening remarks were delivered by Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation & Nuclear Safety.

He highlighted the urgency of Africa’s restoration agenda for climate resilience.

The image shows a starry sky with some veil clouds and contrails, all lit up by the Full Moon (outside of the image at left). At lower right planet Jupiter is visible, at centre right the Pleiades or Seven Sisters star cluster. Above centre two short trails are visible. The brightest and upper one is the Advanced Composite Solar Sail Satellite. The lower one is the Chinese Yaogan 1 satellite.

The #ACS3 #SolarSail satellite this evening during a high pass through ENE. It was flaring with the same frequency as it does for quite a while now. Below ACS3 Chinese satellite Yaogan 1 can be seen. Very unfavourable sky with Full Moon and a lot of contrails. Image taken at 18:54 CET (UT+1).

First of three images showing a rather cloudy sky with enough gaps to see stars and a short trail varying in brightness. This is the Advanced Composite Solar Sail System (ACS3) satellite from NASA. In the first and third image the satellite varies in brightness during the 8 second exposure time of the images. In the second image its brightness remains stable at its maximum shown during the pass.

Pretty bright high eastern pass of NASA's #ACS3 #SolarSail this evening 3 December 2024. Images taken from 18:14 to 18:16 UT. Exposure times 8 seconds. It was flaring less regular than it used to do in the past two months. @annqld1.bsky.social @leonoor.bsky.social @sjbastro.bsky.social

The image shows the international space station as a bright streak in a sky full of stars, veil clouds and light pollution near the horizon. The streak is caused by the shuttertime of 5 seconds for the image. Most of the veil clouds are remnants of aircraft contrails. High air humidity strengthens the light pollution.

Low but nice pass of space station #ISS tonight at 17:35 UT. Lots of contrail remnants in the sky. Around 18:06 UT an easterly pass of NASA's Solar Sail satellite #ACS3. It was flaring brightly (shutter time of this image 6 s). @daveatcogs.bsky.social @sjbastro.bsky.social @suerob7.bsky.social

Unexpectedly the sky cleared tonight. So here are planet #Venus (at right in 1st pic), space station #ISS entering the Earth's shadow at 18:36 CET, and Starlink #G9-12, launched yesterday. I did also observe NASA's #ACS3 #SolarSail, but camera failed. @leonoor.bsky.social @daveatcogs.bsky.social

⏰ vend.

The bright white line of the ACS3 passing through the starfield of the Summer Triangle asterism. This is an image made up of 7 different shots. The small gaps are when the camera was saving each picture. The ACS3 started off bright near Altair at the bottom and then faded from view as it passed through Cygnus. It then became visible again near Lyra before fading again.

Another shot of NASA's Advanced Composite Solar Sail System (ACS3) from last night - a wider view of it passing through the Summer Triangle. This is pretty much how it looked to the naked eye. It faded from view crossing Cygnus before appearing again. #ACS3 #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Space

I captured NASA's Advanced Composite Solar Sail System (ACS3) passing next to Vega this evening, at 20:20 UT from North Yorkshire. It faded in and out of view a couple of times but when it was visible it was quite bright. #ACS3 #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Space

NASA's solar sail successfully spreads its wings in space Spacecraft data has confirmed successful deployment of the futuristic technology.

Just like the wind guides a sailboat on water, it only takes a slight amount of sunlight to guide solar sails through space. Though photons don't have mass, they can force momentum when they hit an object

NASA's #solar sail #ACS3 was supposed to pass through the keystone in Hercules, but it must have missed. @nebulousnikki.bsky.social and I saw it briefly, but it disappeared, and we didn't see it again. Didn't see it on the first pass... We did see a nice bright meteor though. Got M13 #astronomy

Just watched #ACS3 tumble by. Looked like it was visible for 15-20 seconds, and then disappeared for 15-20 seconds. Brightest near the zenith. #astronomy

There is a sudden change in the orbital eccentricity (and with that apogee and perigee heights) of #ACS3 starting on August 30.4 UTC. Perhaps related.

I observed @NASA 's #ACS3 #Solarsail pass over Leiden, the Netherlands at 20:26 UTC (29 Aug).
It was not particularly bright (briefly mag +3, most of the time much fainter). Canon EOS 80D + 1.4/35 mm lens at F2.0, 5 seconds ISO 800.
