Sol's rotation is mildly misaligned by 6 degrees. Tau Ceti's debris disc is moderately misaligned by 35 degrees. Ran's debris disc is misaligned by 95 degrees, and the young star is using their disc like a hamster wheel.

These misalignments for Tau Ceti and Ran may be due to bad measurements one way or another, and should not be taken as accurate measurements.

An optical effect observed on stars. It causes the center of the stellar disk to appear brighter than the limb (edge) of the disk.

This effect is caused by absorption of light by material in the photosphere - the further the photon has to travel within the photosphere, the more likely it is to get absorbed. The distance where the light is reduced to 1/2.718 is known as optical depth.

Due to the spherical shape of the star, this distance passes through the most light-emitting material at the center of the stellar disk, and decreases towards the limb, as depicted in Figure 1.

Additionally, materials at lower altitude have higher temperature. Blackbody radiation is proportional to the temperature to the power of 4, and thus hotter material that can be observed near the center of the stellar disk but not at the edge emits much more light.
