I reaffirmed UNDP's commitment to standing with SIDS to deliver on the bold aspirations of the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for SIDS - scaling climate action, nature solutions & innovative finance.

Portugal and #AOSIS hosted an event on #SeaLevelRise with 26 SIDS. Patricia Galvão Teles, Co-Chair of the ILC Study Group, gave a preview of the highly awaited ILC report. Engaging discussions on legal pathways and international cooperation for tackling one of the world's most pressing challenge.

When I worked a lot with small island states 15yrs ago #risingSea levels were already devastating. #KingTides were wreaking havoc, #climateChange brought existential threats.
We all foresaw #ClimateRefugees &there was insufficient impact from grand global promises

Ocean-based climate action & meaningful participation of vulnerable groups are highlighted.

Shoutout from #Fiji, which says $7 trillion per year is feeding the problem and is not willing to be held hostage, saying decisions need to follow the science. #Canada acknowledges #AOSIS members, and the commitment to act (we'll see how that statement changes their economic restructuring/aid flow.)

Two people I spoke to from The Association of Small Island Developing States, or #AOSIS, said that they have been told not to speak to the press. They wouldn't say who gave the gag order.
