Text: SB 6002 Tell Your Senator Vote NO on Senate Bill 6002 Why? -> Visual: a road in the dessert with a U-turn sign
The Driver Privacy Bill was intended at harm reduction but created loopholes that can be exploited and allow invasive location tracking of vulnerable groups. This is why we had recommended the Senate strengthen the bill and adequately protect Washington residents from harm.
However, the Senate passed a substitute version of the bill that further weakens the bill by lengthening the retention period of ALPR (Automatic License Plate Reading) data to 21 days, allowing tracking and surveilling of students at higher education institutions, and weakens transparency and accountability.
