This is a tight crop of our full-disk image focusing on acrive regions 4081 and, to its right, 4081.
Active Region 4079 will be rolling out of view soon without producing the kind of flares that might be expected from a sunspot of that size. It was an otherwise unremarkable photosphere today.

A full disk image of the sun made on May 7, 2025, showing only three active regions or sunspot groups. Two, to the left of center and one just above center, are fairly unremarkable. AR 4079, however, remains large and in charge, near the sun's western limb which is the right edge of the disk. The solar disk is light gray and the background is solid black.
The day presented unexpected periods of clear sky (between clouds) and decent seeing for our Sun shot. Hoping for better opportunities Friday though our feature of interest may be unavailable.

L'énorme région active 4079, ce 2 mai 2025, vers 11h30 TU, à Reims. Pour bien se rendre compte de la taille de la bête, on peut déjà la voir sans instrument, avec de simples lunettes d'éclipse.
Mais derrière un filtre de Herschel, c'est spectaculaire !

Збільшене зображення активної області на Сонці. Видно кілька темних сонячних плям, що об'єднані у складну структуру з двома виразними темними ядрами. Візуально ця група нагадує рибку.
Збільшене зображення тієї ж активної області, що й на попередньому фото, але з чорною лінією, яка обводить контури плям, підкреслюючи їхню схожість на рибку з хвостом і плавцями.
