It’s Friday. Who’s got questions? #ARlegAMA

I’ve only followed F1 since early June. I picked McLaren before I knew about the standings, so I pull for Lando and Oscar, but I like Lewis, George, Nico, and Charles. Not sure today’s practices tell us much about Sunday. Assume it’ll be some combo of McLaren and Red Bull, maybe Ferrari. #ARlegAMA

Haven't done one of these in awhile, but it's Friday afternoon, it's nice out, and I'm looking forward to this weekend's F1 race in Baku and the Packers game Sunday.

I don’t know how much #SB392 has to do with the belt tightening we’re seeing, including in the form of the executive branch opposing good bills because of their potential fiscal impact.

I’m not indifferent to job cuts, but it was important to pay our state employees more.

I miss the buttons. But I spent eight years in the House before joining the Senate. Senators who never spent time in the House can’t imagine pushing a button to vote. #ARlegAMA

Time’s limited, but there’s time enough. House State Agencies meets Monday. We’ll see what happens. #ARlegAMA

I always say nothing’s ever truly dead till we leave town, but I don’t know how they get to 27 on our end. #ARlegAMA

It’s Friday afternoon. It’s nice outside. I might yet register for tomorrow’s Hogeye Marathon because I don’t feel I’ve been punished enough this week.

It’s possible session drags on into late April, but I don’t think anybody wants that. Ideally we’re looking at no later than the week of April 14. #ARlegAMA

It’s a beautiful Friday afternoon here in Fayetteville. Got about five or six (or maybe seven) weeks of session left.

1. One with instructions for safe, successful time travel.

2. One that’s brief, polite, and that highlights two or three reasons why the writer supports or opposes a bill.

It's Friday afternoon, it's perfect outside, had a great group join me for this morning's Constituent Coffee here in Fayetteville.

I think you’d get a different answer from different lawmakers and different groups affected by our actions, but personally, it’ll be hard to top 2021 and 2023. As for FOIA, yes, and I don’t know. #ARlegAMA

I dunno. Yes, I’m sure there’s appetite. But among enough? I don’t know. I don’t know if, in this moment, I’d be uncomfortable saying “that probably won’t happen” about anything. #ARlegAMA

I’m still working my way through the bill, but there’s a lot in there that’s concerning. The section going after DEI isn’t a surprise; our governor said in her State of the State address that she’d target it. #ARlegAMA

I’ve tried to pass anti-wage theft legislation every session I’ve served. I’ve tried to help pass renters’ rights every session since 2013. I’ve had success passing juvenile justice reforms and laws to increase access to cancer treatments.

This Senate seat’s gonna be open in 2026.

Arkansas Democrats have and will continue to put forward legislation to help everyday Arkansans. A lot of those bills are nonstarters. A lot of us also work to pass meaningful legislation that isn’t necessarily to directly “combat” other bills, but to genuinely help people. #ARlegAMA (1/2)

Some state legislatures do limit the number of bills lawmakers can introduce. Arkansas does not. #ARlegAMA

A sharp person can read a piece of legislation and still not necessarily understand it, but: yes, our state has seen its share of unfortunate IT infrastructure. Also there’s plenty of data out there that shows that work requirements don’t work. #ARlegAMA

Republican lawmakers pushed it a session or two ago, and it seemed to have some traction for a bit—but I’m not optimistic about it this session. It would need to be a Republican-led effort to have a chance. #ARlegAMA

The legislature can create task forces, working groups, subcommittees.... I think there are only three right now: the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Advisory Council, the Task Force on Austism, and the Child Maltreatment Investigations Oversight Committee. #ARlegAMA

I need to catch up on the most recently filed bills, but I don't know of a piece of legislation specifically targeting the community, and no one's brought one to my attention.

For those who don't know, you can see all filed bills at www.arkleg.state.ar.us.

One week into the 2025 Regular Session. Who's got questions? #ARlegAMA

I haven't. Judging from the number, it's a House bill. I'll take a look at it. #ARlegAMA

I don't know that many lawmakers have taken a public position, but the local Republicans—Senators King and Stubblefield—are publicly opposed. I think most if not all Republicans support building a prison, just a question of whether they support the current plan. #ARlegAMA

Made it back to Fayetteville. No going back to Little Rock till mid January.

I hate the cold.
