Consider the evolution of the United Nations from its original conception as a League of Nations to a global network pursuing Sustainable Development Goals. That transformation was impossible without the work of Bethune, DuBois, Bunche, Young, Mandela, and Annan. #ASALH2025
The 2pm session on Black History, Black Studies, and Afrofuturism featured a dynamic conversation about Afro-pessimism and community action programs. The conclusions about the power and resilience of Black institutions was inspirational. #ASALH2025
Today’s session on enslavement established the criminality of American colonists under English law. Larry Alexander, Macalester College, expanded the work of James Stewart on the corruption of Afro-English rights in the 18th century. #ASALH2025
