At #ASHA24 there were 2 papers of systematic reviews of #GestaltLanguageProcessing by SEPARATE research groups!
1. Ours - systematic review - empty
2. Theirs - systematic review - empty
Ours had a tighter inclusion criteria.
So even a looser inclusion criteria made no difference to the result.

Just arrived in Canada for a little post #ASHA24 holiday and the most Canadian thing I've seen so far was a bus that just said "SORRY" on the front screen
I truly don't care if I don't see another escalator for a very very long time.... 🤣 #ASHA24 #asha2024 #slpeeps

Had a great time presenting with my colleagues Kayla Beyer and Becky Johnson at #ASHA24 about working with kids with clefts!! #speechie
After a wonderful keynote at #OpeningSession for #ASHA24, Thursday's livestream offerings were disappointing. Proposals may have been lacking, or the process of approving may have been less selective - unsure. I did not submit one this year. Overall selection seems "meh". #SLPeeps #bskySPEECHIES
My #ASHA24 experience so far
Early risers at #ASHA2024 #ASHA24! Go see @sarahhayward.bsky.social present her incredible work on participatory action research for co-designing and developing #AAC #AugComm and education resources to promote collaboration between parents and professionals:

Every year there is a conference theme and some presenters work it into their title but this year is overflowing w/ presenters ready to "elevate" things 😄 #ASHA2024 #SLPeeps #ASHA24
Alright - in a session the most commonly asked ethics questions in 2024.
These sessions give me so much anxiety 🙈 I'm a type A rule follower who is always convinced I'm messing up!
But they promise to address AI 🤞

Great start to my morning at #ASHA24 ! Steven Barbian and Adria Thompson’s talk on perspectives of people with #dementia about speech therapy was excellent and centered the lived experience in a way we SLPs/SLTs need to hear! Thank you! #SLPeeps #bskyspeechies
Welcome to Seattle, #ASHA24! Coming up tomorrow, Dr. Carolyn Baylor is presenting on evidence-based assessment at noon, and PhD Candidate Cait Brown is presenting on the SLP's role in quality indicators at 5 PM. We hope to see you there! Check out the details at: rehab.washington.edu/news-and-eve...
If you are at #ASHA2024 #ASHA24 and are interested in student supervision, come to my presentation (along with my brilliant co-researchers) about supporting CSD students with #disabilities

Ready for #ASHA24 in beautiful Seattle. Looking forward to learning with and from some awesome #SLPeeps! #bskyspeechies
Well I am very sad not to be at #ASHA24 with my #SLPeeps, but I sincerely hope they have a blast presenting, learning, and networking.
If you're attending #ASHA2024 #ASHA24, I urge you to go and listen to @bronwynhemsley.bsky.social present her team's work - I was lucky enough to see a version of this at Communication Matters Conference this year and it is a brilliantly constructed study with hugely important outcomes for practice!
Landed in Seattle ✈️ 🏔️ I am very excited to present our work on multisensory emotion perception in bicultural bilinguals at ASHA tomorrow (5:00pm PT). Feel free to stop by! I would love to connect with you.

In my way to Seattle #ASHA24
I live near a goods line and the coal freight line for the largest coal port in the world #Newcastle - now on my way to #ASHA24 #Asha2024 from the place of my birth “Waratah” (always reminds me of the Newcastle song “Thanks Warrah, ta”) I actually land in Seattle before I leave Sydney.
Our systematic review of #GLP #NLA is anticipated for release on (around or about) 11th December …
Facebook review from a leading figure exclaimed to followers —
“underwhelming at best”
So the bar is low now!
I am sure we can improve on that at #ASHA2024 #ASHA24

A badge that has GLP and NLA in black letters on a white background with a red line across the diagonal
An actual badge from ASHA 1995 that presenters wore and gave out as a orotest against FC - white badge with red diagonal line across the black letters F C
Someone made me this AI pic of an GLP/NLA no go badge after reading about how #GestaltLanguageProcessing and #NaturalLanguageAcquisition is promoting #RPM and #FC - see pages 259 and 260 of Blanc (2012) reminding me of an actual badge at #ASHA1995 #ASHA24 @katharinebeals.bsky.social

You should read this paper *Before* #ASHA24 if you are at all tempted to use an echolalia prevalence figure or say anything at all about how it is defined or measured, in your presentation. link.springer.com/article/10.1... #GestaltLanguageProcessing #NaturalLanguageAcquisition #echolalia

Might put this on my #ASHA24 slides. What I’m doing when I’m not studying GLP and NLA

I am so keen to release our #GLP and #NLA podcast … but it has to wait for the systematic review!! (-PS the result IS already published right here - in short form … [Communication Matters UK chapter of ISAAC Conference - 8-10 Sept 2024) #ASHA24
Cool - got my badge for #ASHA24
You’d best get to our paper early as it is going to be “sitting with decorum” room only at our review of #GestaltLanguageProcessing paper with clinical cautions.
