What a way to end #ASNR2025! The questions and comments from our audience stimulated an interesting dialogue with our panelists about implantable brain-computer interfaces, and there was a strong emphasis on including lived experience throughout the development process. 🧠🔄 🧠📈

Every end-user's experience is different. Ian Burkhart & Dr. DJ Seo shared aspects of the end-user journey experience for people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (#ALS), spinal cord injury (#SCI), and #stroke that are key to consider as the field continues to develop #BCI devices. #ASNR2025

The two pieces of advice I've given repeatedly at #ASNR2025:
1) When writing a grant (or paper), your biggest goal is to evoke a positive emotional response in your reader
2) To understand that effect you see in patients' brains, you probably need a better understanding of the healthy brain

In his #ASNR2025 presentation, Dr. Sandon Griffin introduced us to a novel electrical brain stimulation technique using a "ringtrode" which allows for flexible and precise cortical modulation, and he discussed his work examining frequency-specific bi-directional modulation of motor function. 🧠🔄 🧠📈

We're excited about @nao-neuro.bsky.social's findings showing that extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields at the theta frequency improves motor function & enhances recovery in a rodent #stroke model, indicating that it may be a useful alternative for therapeutic stimulation.
