Burrough Hill, an iron age hillfort, was once known as a sporting venue. J.B.Firth recalls that in 1921, Edward 'the Prince of Wales rode in a Point-to-Point on Borough Hill and lost out of his flying coat tails two favourite briar-pipes, his inseparable companions on his distant tours, which were publicly advertised for and duly recovered'. Just over a mile away to the southwest lies Burrough Court, where Edward first met Mrs Simpson in 1931.
