Just when I thought I couldn't love #AUsefulGhost more, I learn that its climax is set to a piece by Russian avantgarde composer Sergey Kuryokhin.
What a movie 🔥
Looking at the reviews, I see it's not just me who felt that #AUsefulGhost shares much of its style with Yorgos Lanthimos's work.
Except, where Lanthimos is a misanthrope, Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke's heart beats with humanist fire, at once romantic, furious and unapologetically queer.
Finally got to see #AUsefulGhost, and want to shout from the rooftops about how great this movie.
Starts as an absurdist comedy about a man reconnecting with his dead wife whose spirit haunts a vacuum cleaner. But then it starts shifting gears in numerous other unexpected (and darker) directions.

#27 was the definition of a film festival movie! #AUsefulGhost provides both a commentary on silencing undesirables and forbidden love, whilst also providing a fight between a possessed vacuum cleaner and a possessed fridge. It is both bonkers and heartfelt, with a crazy finale!
