The Wilson's double-hulled passenger boat services the National Park.
It comes in from Awaroa, puts out the gangplank and 1 passenger with hiking backpack alights, then sets off back to port as Totaranui is the furthest point.

Camping bays are sparsely occupied outside of main summer holiday season.

Only non-potable water provided.

This weka takes long strides across a camping bay with basic seating and enclosure for cooking fire.

Totaranui is a very large (850 sites) Dept of Conservation campsite with basic facilities. No power, no potable water. There are ofc the standard Kiwi ablution blocks. And hordes of weka! (Native flightless bird)

You walk over a hill (mountain) to each stunning beach, admiring stunning scenery. We met some lovely birds including weka, kākā, and bell birds. The weka are cheeky f*cks who steal food, socks, anything they can carry... 😀
