Despite its status as a so-called “zombie law” that hasn’t been enforced for around a century, some people opposed to abortion care are once again trying to revive the Comstock Law. They point to its restriction on mailing “abortion-related” materials as a way to end access to abortion medications.

The legislation was an attempt to impose strict morality across the country.

Abortion training should be a standard part of medical education, but many medical schools leave this care out of the curriculum.

MSFC fills those gaps by providing family planning education and hands-on abortion care training. 💙 #medstudents #abortioncare

Breaking: Wyoming Supreme Court Rules Abortion is Healthcare The court struck down two state bans

“Thus, #pregnancy comes with physical & emotional challenges & risks that affect ‘the condition of being sound in body mind spirit.’
We therefore conclude that the phrase #healthcare includes #abortioncare & that the decision whether to terminate or continue a pregnancy is a health care decision.

Poster for The Fireweed Project offering aftercare kits to Indigenous people in Canada after an abortion.

Transcribed Text:

The Fireweed Project is providing Aftercare Kits to Indigenous people receiving an abortion

We created post-abortion support kits based on conversations with Indigenous community members who had an abortion, and expressed how much a thoughtfully crafted aftercare kit would have meant to them during their abortion journey.

These kits include things like pads, cramping supplies, self-care and Indigenous-specific items.

We are offering kits to folks who meet the following criteria:

• Self-Identify as an Indigenous person in Canada (First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit)

• Have received an abortion within the last year (or are about to)

• Are 12 years of age or older, and

• Reside in Canada

To order a kit, visit www.fireweedproject.ca/order-a-support-kit or use the QR code

Please note that all kits will be shipped in discrete packaging and require the recipient’s signature

This project is led by Drs. Renée Monchalin and Astrid Pérez Piñán from the University of Victoria in partnership with Abortion Support Services Atlantic, ekw’í7tl Indigenous Doula Collective, Northern Manitoba Abortion Support, and Northern Reproductive Justice Network. I keep posting this, but it's from the 1917 trial of Margaret Sanger, a birth control activist. Still accurate 100 years later.

In the end, the judge ruled that no woman has "the right to copulate with a feeling of security that there will be no resulting conceptice:

If a woman isn't willing to die in childbirth, she shouldn't have sex."

The book is "The Secret History of Wonder Woman" if anyone is interested.
