The FDA has sent a message with the update to using the word “healthy” on food product labels. The message is stop eating sugar except in very very very small amounts.

Sugar is a traditional sweetener. Refined sugar probably disrespects the sugar cane cell matrix as much as high fructose corn syrup disrespects the corn cell matrix.

The FDA threshold for #AddedSugar is set so low, fruit 🍏🥭🍊is the only healthy sweet to have for dessert 🎂🍰. It’s the only #FDAhealthy threshold that I’m okay with. Having a “real” dessert once a week or a celebration meal would be a positive change. Always better to eat #RealFood instead of #UPF 🍪🍩🍦

Totally agree that excessive sugar consumption is a problem. I’m concerned however with the current FDA regulatory approach to labeling #AddedSugar because it’s so austere. Even more bothersome, the food industry is pushing novel & artificial substitutes for all Americans, not just diabetics.
