The boys are at it again. Suffering Game is one of my favorite arcs of the Balance story and I was very excited to see it translated to page. I should note that my feeling there would be increasingly cut content going forward were pretty much confirmed with this entry. A lot of the side plots and NPC’s from the show were cut, and while I don’t think it hurts the story it does make me a little nervous for the next entry. I love Edward and Lydia, they’re stylish, nasty, and just spiteful enough. Pietsch’s art continues to dazzle throughout and I find that the action in each novel becomes so much easier to follow as the series progresses, which is good because Suffering Game is lighter on lore and nonstop ride comparatively. I just can’t wait to see how the series finale turns out. 4/5 bells
