Kryphion (The name is based on the Greek word 'κρυφός' which means hidden) -The City Beneath the Silence Far beneath the crushing blue tides of Neptune, in the eternal twilight of the abyss, lies the city of Kryphion—a vast domed civilization pulsing with bioelectric light, built within the skeletons of ancient tectonic fissures. Towering spires, like petrified trees of obsidian and flame, rise from the ocean floor, connected by glowing arterial highways. Between them patrol the synthetic sirens—cybernetic mermaid guardians designed for deep-pressure recon and defense.
The inhabitants of Kryphion, known as Nereans (The name is based on the Greek word 'νερό' which means water), are descendants of the last Earth diaspora—a generation genetically sculpted for aquatic adaptation. They breathe through engineered gills and perceive sound as shape and color, living in harmony with the dark ocean and the whispering machines that maintain their fragile world. But within the central archives of Kryphion, in sealed vaults and forbidden texts, lives a heresy: the Myth of the Surface.
Myth of the Surface: They say that long ago, before the sky boiled and the land died, humanity lived under stars, not water. They say there were cities that touched clouds, not coral. The elders dismiss it as romantic fantasy—propaganda of a world that never was. “Upwards leads only to pressure and death,” they say. Yet some still dream. Some stare through the translucent dome, past the swirling abyss, and wonder what light might feel like on their skin.
Among them is a young guardian named Lyra, a synthetic mermaid unlike the others—her neural map encoded with ancient starlore, her circuits pulsing with questions. One day, while patrolling the edge of the dome, she sees it: a shimmer. A current not mapped. A pull… upward. And perhaps, in Kryphion, myths are not forgotten—they are simply waiting to be remembered.
