What is living in (and on) alpine soils at 3100m in the European #Alps?
"Not too much"? Check out this sample.
A lot of critters (abundance) and also some larger larvae (Tipulidae) and some flying insects (biomass).
Very excited to sort out these #GLORIA samples from #SouthTyrol.

There are still some #GoodNews out there 🥳
It is a pleasure to accept your manuscript entitled "Biodiversity in mountain soils above the treeline" in its current form for publication in Biological Reviews.
Thanks to everyone involved!
Happy Easter holidays ✌️

Some time ago, we #AlpSoil_Lab at @euracalpenv.bsky.social l published a paper for kids and all people in a simple language. Thanks to @soilbiocomm.bsky.social these articles were translated in many languages!

Julia Seeber, soil evologist, giving a talk about the Biodiversa+ Soil Pilot study.
Great talk of @jseeber.bsky.social at the #EuBiReCo 2024 in #Bozen / #Bolzano (#SouthTyrol).
She highlighted the efforts of the #Biodiversa+ Soil Pilot to find transnational monitoring schemes to assess #SoilBiodiversity (e.g. pitfall traps vs. eDNA).

In this last days of a #GoldenAutumn, I did some readouts of our #SoilTemp sensors that are installed high up in the Southtyrolean #mountains.
Ready to be sent to @jlembrechts.bsky.social and colleagues 😎

What an intensive week of #alpine #SoilBiodiversity sampling. Despite being holidays in 🇮🇹, we climbed up #mountains in 🇦🇹 in the #NationalParkHoheTauern for our #SnowBeds project (w/ @uniinnsbruck.bsky.social & @unibern.bsky.social).
Such a great view 😎

What an adventure 🤠
We as #AlpSoil_Lab from @euracalpenv.bsky.social set up our highest pitfall traps yet at high #alpine sites at 3300m and 3100m.
These #GLORIA sites are quite steep and challenging to reach, but I can't wait to see the #soilfauna living up there 🔍

Parallel to other #SoilEcology project, we at the #AlpSoil_Lab of #EuracResearch started with the #SnowBed project to sample #SoilMesofauna in #alpine environment.
Late this year but it is sunny up there!

It's alpine sampling time, and this week we did the first samplings of #SoilFauna in the #GLORIA project, where plants and animals are monitored on remote #mountain peaks every 5 years.
Here the "lower" sites, quite steep but very beautiful places to work. 🤠
