Hurricane Worlds: World-Making, Ways of Knowing, Ways of Art
Thursday, October 24 | 6:00 PM NYU Hemispheric Institute 20 Cooper Square, 5th floor Conference Space
Join us for a conversation about hurricanes, hurricane knowledge, and hurricane imaginaries. This dialogue with Hemi Director Ana Dopico (NYU), Mellon Fellow Lisa Paravisini-Gebert (Vassar), Artist Nadia Huggins, and writer/scholar Gabriel Carle launches a Hemispheric Institute initiative that will bring together researchers, historians, artists, scientists, and vernacular history and practices. Hurricane Worlds summons collaborative research to gather the epistemologies, world-making, and art-making of people who live and have lived in Hurricane worlds, and those who are now becoming part of that growing and migrating geography.
