This morning was the latest #Sunrise (annually though!).

Because Earth is nearer the Sun in the winter, its #orbit around the #Sun actually speeds up more than in summer & shown in the largest loop on this #analemma diagram.

This pattern is seen if photographing the Sun's position every day.

The reason for this phenomenon is due to Earth’s quicker speed in the weeks before and after we reach perihelion to the sun - about two weeks after the solstice.
