Pixel art depicting an Anchiornis dinosaur gliding in a forest with his small wings
I just watched the Dinosaurs documentary from Spielberg and i was rooting for the Anchiornis. Its so cute, gliding in the forests with its little wings. And i bet it tastes like chicken, which is nice too.

A square image with the head, neck body and wing of anchiornis visible. Is is a long thick necked bird with a grey body and ginger patches on its head and upper arm. The wing is made of many feather layers which are white with black tips.
I re-illustrated #Anchiornis again, and it looks quite a bit different from usual!!! This still matches the known data for this #dinosaur, but I really wanted to avoid it looking copy-pasted this time. I've given a full description of it on my Patreon.

Digital painterly illustration of an Anchiornis balancing on a slanted branch readying to jump and glide looking to the right with a bright forest behind. The feather coloration is dark gray on the body with white and black tipped flight feathers. The head crest is dark gray or black based on the second specimen to have its colors determined and not the first that had rufous coloring.

"Portrait of Anchiornis" Acrylic on Canvas The subject of this painting is he species of paravian Dinosaur, thought to be a link between the Avian and Non-avian Dinosaurs. Due to the nature of its holotype fossil, and study of ancient pigment within the feathers, we have a good understanding of the color integument of this animal. The animal is a dark gray in color along the body, with a black mark going from just behind the eye all the way up to the end of the snout. The tip of the snout is of a yellow color similar to modern day ducks. Adorned on the top of the animal's head is a bright red crest, with white speckling at the tips of the feathers. A red mark goes goes down the side of the head right where the skull meets the neck. The animal has sky blue eyes, one of the few liberties I was able to take in depicting this creature.

On of the neat things that has developed recently in terms of #Paleontology has been the study of melanosomes (color pigment) in preserved skin, scales and feathers. #Anchiornis was one of the first to reveal it true ancient colors. #Paleoart #art
