Damn it's hot out. Traveled from #FederalWay over to Pasco this past weekend for a family visit. Checked the weather before and after, and we went from 80 up to 100 degrees (f) during the ~200-mile drive. Every 10 miles picked up another degree.

Achillea millefolium, yarrow. An umbel of many small white flowers, four-petalled. Blurry grey-green BG.
Antennaria lanata, wooly pussytoes. In the foregournd a small group of several unopened buds on the end of a stem. The BG is quite blurry and shows the basal rosette of grey green leaves and an interesting pattern of crisscrossing orange-brown and grey-brown pine needles.
Antennaria umbrinella, umber pussytoes. The beautiful wooly texture of the mat-forming silvery grey green basal rosettes and among them the pouffed open brown seedheads with seeds that will soon deploy a pappus to be wind dispersed.
In the old growth forest, Calypso bulbosa var. occidentalis (the western north american form, native west of the mountains). Among the last of these flowers for the year. Full descritpion at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calypso_bulbosa

Acer glabrum, shiny maple. One a blurry BG, a red twig with several small green flowers, and leaves barely unfurling.
Amelanchier alnifolia, servicemerry. On blurry BG, a cluster of branches with fresh green leaves and plentiful clusters of white flowers. Each is five-petalled with prominent yellow stamens.
Antennaria lanata, pussytoes. Lookiung down from above. The BG is the silvery-grey rosette of leaves at the base of the plant. In focus are the flowers, clusters of reproductive parts inside a husk of white "petals" (sepals, I would guess) that make it look a bit like toe beans. The whole plant is barely a hand tall.
Antennaria umbrinella, umber pussytoes. Similar to the last one but the flowerheads are more flat and umbel-like.
