My #aphonopelma #seemannii has been molting in July every year for the last three. She has grown a lot, just stretching in her hide now, can't wait to see her outside ❤️ #tarantula #vogelspinne #arachnid #molt

One of my new spoods that I'm in love with!!! A beautiful SA male Aphonopelma chalcodes (Arizona/Desert blond). He has been named Alistair!

my #Aphonopelma #chalcodes only burrowed a bit and never uses her cave, instead goes for walks or sit around.
On the other hand my #Hysterocrates #gigas build Fort Knox and never shows herself. I only saw her fully once as i received her. Damn what a monster sizewise but she was chill AF

It’s that time of year again when male #tarantulas will be on the move in the USA - looking for love before heading to the big web in the sky.
They mean you no harm.
Please let them be on their way in safety and help them if they’re in peril.
They’re truly harmless.

According to one of our docents, Jack Owicki, this could be a #Aphonopelma #iodius. This #tarantula species, A. iodius, is pretty widespread and has many common names. There are something like 30 species of Aphonopelma in the U.S.

This week we spotted a #tarantula on its #fallcrawl at Jasper Ridge! All of California’s native #tarantulas are in the genus #Aphonopelma, family #Theraphosidae. In the fall, males are often seen wandering in search of females which are waiting in burrows waiting for a mate. 🧵
